Active and Reflective Listening as a Support Person

Often, survivor leaders are put into positions to support other survivors (as mentors, crisis responders, advocates, or support group leaders) without proper preparation and support to thrive in those roles. We are resourceful and insightful and learn and grow on the job, and also, there are some key skills and frameworks we can use in order to support survivors in reconnecting with their sense of agency and safety. This training offers a basic overview of active and reflective listening skills that can be used in peer support, crisis response, and facilitator spaces. Please note that this is not a substitute for more in-depth training, but rather an introduction. Seek out additional training and support for your work.
