Trauma-Informed Storytelling

Many survivors engaged in leadership activities may also share their trafficking stories or details of their trauma as part of their work. When we’re training or educating others, sometimes storytelling can support the goals of our training and enhance attendees’ learning. Other times, storytelling can disrupt our training environment, work against our training goals, or prevent effective learning. How can people with lived experience of severe trauma (including trafficking) navigate considerations of when and how much personal storytelling supports their training intentions? This presentation offers an overview of trauma-informed storytelling when giving trainings or teaching others.
